French A2 Writing Practice - Write about your family reunion

Family reunions can be a source of joy, laughter, and shared memories. Writing about a family reunion can help capture the essence of these events, and allow us to relive the experience in a unique way. Whether it's a small gathering of close relatives or a larger event that brings together extended family members from all over, the stories that come out of these reunions can be heartwarming and meaningful. In this writing practice, we'll explore some prompts and techniques to help you capture the essence of a family reunion and turn it into a compelling story.

Topic: Write a 200-word story about your family reunion.

Instruction: You can use the hint below to write the story.

  • Choose a main character for your story who is attending the reunion

  • Set the scene by describing the location of the reunion (e.g. at a relative's house, in a park, at a rented venue).

  • Describe the atmosphere of the reunion (e.g. festive, emotional, casual).

  • Highlight some of the family members attending the reunion (e.g. cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents).

  • Mention any special activities or traditions that take place during the reunion (e.g. potluck dinner, family games, storytelling).

  • Include some dialogue or interactions between family members to give your story more depth.

  • Consider adding a moment of reflection or realization for your main character towards the end of the story (e.g. realizing the importance of family, feeling grateful for the memories made).

Remember, you can always adjust these hints to fit the specific story you want to tell. Good luck with your writing!

You can also refer to this sample story on how to write about yourself in French.

Here are some tips to practice better writing skills

  • Build your vocabulary: Learn new words and phrases that can help you express yourself more clearly and accurately. You can use flashcards or vocabulary apps to practice and memorize new words.

  • Practice grammar and sentence structure: Review the basic grammar rules and practice constructing different types of sentences. You can use grammar books or online resources to help you improve your grammar skills.

  • Write on a computer: Writing on a computer can be more efficient and convenient than writing by hand. You can use spelling and grammar check features to help you catch errors and improve your writing.

  • Use writing software: Writing software like Microsoft Word or Google Docs can help you keep track of your word count and structure your writing more effectively. You can also use features like comments or revision history to collaborate with others or get feedback on your writing.

  • Read and analyze good writing: Reading books, articles, and other types of well-written content can help you learn new vocabulary, grammar structures, and writing styles. You can also analyze what makes the writing effective and try to apply those techniques in your own writing.
